I'm a senior at Cronkite school, studying journalism. 0:02 And I work two different part-time jobs, and then I have a volunteer position 0:13 that I don't get pay for, but kind of work as a part-time job as well. 0:18 My jobs are in pretty similar fields. I have one job which is an internship. It's at channel 3, here is Phoenix. 0:26 And so I work as kind of an assistant preducer, so I write stories for them. And I shadow the reporters’ videographies. 0:28 And then my other job it’s for the town of Gelber in their communication department and I work as digital journlist. 0:47 So I use like their social media pages to promote different events and promote internal things as well 0:53 And I make packages for them. 0:56 For their online and local TV channel. 0:59 And then my volunteer position is campus represention for the Disney college program. 1:01 And I do that in campus here, and so we table and set up events for the students are interested in doing Disney college program, and also you know market the program in social media. 1:03 Average day depends on what day the week is, but Mondays and Wednesdays I wake up around 3:45 and I go to work at channel 3. I am there 3 from 5 to 10, sometimes 10:30 to 11, depending on what they need me to do, and I go from there, I usually go home and change or just eat something really quick. And then I go to my job at town of Gelber, and I did that 1 to 6, and after that, I usually go to my parents house, and see my dogs and see my parents. 1:52 Sometimes if I can, I’ll try to go to the gym, and it’s also hard. and I squzze some time for homework. I don’t have ton of homework because it's my last semester, so many classes are kind of lighter, but...yeah... I save about like an hour or two hours for homework and online classwork. And I try to bed around 10:30. 2:10 I moved out of my parents house this year, and I need some extra income. 2:16 I did take out a couples of students loans in order to pay for...you know...like living 2:22 And I do have scholarship to go to school so that's been really really helpful, but I wanted something, some jobs that I could use money for free time, and social events and also paying rent, and utility bills. 2:28 So that’s mainly why I work , and also I'd like stay busy. I think that extracurricular experiences are really helpful to work outside the school. 2:45 I think that the hardest thing about working going to school at same time, specifically at the Cronkite school in a journlist program is devoting a lot of time to projects that are done outside the class. I think there is a lot of things that we do are outside the class time. And a lot of time, I had to rush and get them done rather than spend the full month time I’d like to spend time on them. 3:15 And other difficulty of working outside of the school is that I can’t participate as many as clubs or events I'd like to. There is a lot of things go on while I am working 3:20 It's kinda bummer, because they wished I can live like a regular student go to all these clubs, fairs and different events on campus. But I just can’t. 3:28 I think definitely that working full-time or almost full-time and going to school has been really are really beneficial and I think that really prepared me to juggle a lot of things at the same time. 3:37 A lot of people worry that, especially for women when they going to workforce, they will have a hard time juggling family life and work 3:50 And I think this is prepared me to juggle school, family, work, and social life during college. 3:54 And I think that made be a better worker and more efficient worker and I would hope that everyone experiences at least having a part time job while they’re going to school. Because I think it makes you more productive and more well-round.
