0:10 Come in here I was really nervous about going to college. 0:16 It was really difficult at first for transition because in high school you were someone you had a name for yourself. 0:23 Once people realize we're on this together in a sense like its not a hard transition. 0:27 I did well in high school and I want to continue doing well here. 0:30 The transition was much much smoother starting out for the class like portico.We are kinda had the opportunity to understand more about business and all the different ethical aspects of business. 0:41 It was nice knowing that we would have a class that would get us into the college environment, teach us what was going to be expected to last. 0:49 I guess I learn about all the different aspects of the business field and what I actually want to do. 0:56 The class itself it's definitely the first time people are kinda interacting with each other at the college level. 1:00 It's a class is designed to help you work together discussed together. 1:03 Also your professor for portico is your advisor for your freshman year. 1:08 My portico teachers professor Cabral and she was absolutely amazing. 1:12 During particle you also create your four year plan which is all the classes that you're planning to take your whole time here. 1:19 Helps you set your goals and actually realize what is actually possible. 1:26 It's also something nice to know like this is what my college career is going to look like for the next four years. 1:30 It's really helpful when you go in to course registration in your pick time. 1:34 It is easy to change something that you already have rather than starting from scratch. 1:38 The only things that I can actually say are permanent on my four year plan are the semesters that I've already passed. 1:46 Other ways I got involved in campus this year. I was ina women and business club. 1:50 I'm currently a part of the entrepreneur society. 1:51 I signed up for SASA which is South Asian Students Association. 1:55 As long as there are like-minded people there will be a club. 1:58 It might seem overwhelming with your first week or two weeks classes but to get yourself out there to finally actually interested in is definitely important. 2:05 The best bonds made at Boston College I think are through the club. 2:09 I would tell incoming freshmen to just be really open. Be ready to make those connections 2:14 One thing I learned in my freshman year was that failures are okay, making mistakes is fine. 2:18 You have your ups and downs and that’s just the reality of it, and at Boston College, those ups and downs are some the most important things and I've taken from this first year. 2:31 Now I'm actually comfortable and I feel like a great student at BC . I think I made my best of freshman year. 2:35 You got in here for a reason. Don't think that you can handle the academics here. 2:41 If you just kinda come in with the mentality that things aren't always gonna be the way that you want them to be. That's alright because they're gonna change for the better more than anything else.
